Ok button stopped working and I took the remote apart, cleaned it, and found out that the black contact has been worn out due to Water damage. Can these be restored? If so, what is the best way to do that to do that?

Remote Control: Yamaha RAV238 Remote Volume Buttons Inoperative Everything Else is Fine

Hi, this AVR (Yamaha RX-V1400) got moved upstairs and for some reason the volume buttons on the remote RAV238 stopped sending to the AVR. Every other button I touch does send (the red light in the upper left shines when a key is pressed). It's just the volume up / down (press them, no red light) that are the only keys not working.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

Remote Control: How to safely open Technics RAK-SA112MH remote control

Hello,

I own a Technics sound system SC-S1500 / SC-S1550 with the original Technics RAK-SA112MH remote control. The power (On/Off) button works intermittently. I can usually restore functionality temporarily by removing the batteries and repeatedly pressing and moving the button, but the issue always returns after some time.

I suspect contamination or oxidation on the internal contacts and would like to open the remote for proper internal cleaning. However, due to the age of the remote, the plastic might have become brittle, and I am concerned about breaking the housing.

I have searched for disassembly guides or teardown instructions specific to the RAK-SA112MH but have not been able to find any. There are videos showing how to clean the remote once opened, but none of them show how the casing is actually opened or where the retaining clips are exactly located.

If anyone has experience opening this specific remote, or can point me to a teardown, photos, or advice on safely opening it, I would greatly appreciate the help.

Thank you in advance.

Update:

I was finally able to open the remote and clean it successfully. The locking mechanism is quite different from what it appears in the YouTube videos that are currently available for this remote. The internal clips are not obvious and are located in places that are not shown in those videos.

I have added several photos that show how the remote housing is actually held together and where the retaining clips (“noses”) are located.

For opening the case, I used the nail cleaner tool of a small Swiss Army knife to release the clips, together with an old credit card or thin plastic pick to keep one side from snapping back shut while working on the other side.

The most difficult part to open was the area around the infrared window, which required the most time and patience.

After cleaning the contacts, the remote is now working properly again.

Remote Control: Remote control overlaps with another device after resoldering

Hello everyone.

I have a StarSat receiver and a DTV receiver in my home.

The StarSat remote control had some problems that I had to hit it several times to get it work so I decided to open and resolder it. I did this and closed its case with some pressure, then I went to check if it works, and it worked fine with the StarSat receiver but the problem is that some of the buttons on the remote control, works on the DTV receiver!! For example “button 5” on the StarSat remote control, does “mute" the DTV receiver :| I really doubt that it was like this before :/

Is it even possible that this thing happened just after I opened and resoldered it or was it like this for 3 years and I hadn't noticed?!! If so, then what's the problem and how to fix? Thanks in advance

Vizio smart tv remote control: Remote is Sluggish or No Response at 5 hours run time of Tv

This seems to be the norm with remote after a few hours with Tv on WiFi only.

There is nothing wrong with the remote itself.

The easy fix Tested is unplug Tv for 1 minute, and let it restart when plugged in.

It will restart where you left off if it was on Live Tv setting

Remote will now be normal. Unfortunately, this is mandatory daily event.

Best if wall outlet plug in is easy to get at.

There must be an overload of RAM on this set - all updates are current.

A chat with VIZIO support is pending.

Model Tested with effect D32h-J09

Logitech Harmony Companion: Battery Won't Stay in

My harmony companion stopped working a few weeks ago. I replaced the battery. 2 days later it stopped working again. The battery was loose, however, I can’t put it back in. When I put it in, it spits it back out. I used the iFixit guide for opening the remote to access the motherboard/buttons, but I can’t figure out what to do about it spitting out the battery. Can anyone help with this? Harmony’s official response was “It sounds like it was dropped”. It’s very possible. I didn’t drop it, but I’m also not the only one to use it.

*Update….I forgot that I took a picture of what mine looked like before putting it together. The main wire that the battery sits on seems to be slightly off center. Would I need to bend it back? I wouldn’t think that would be the issue and I doubt it would bend like that from a drop (as Logitech suggested), but who knows.
