Remote Control: Fixing a water/coffee damaged remote

Hi all,

I had bought a retail plus hdmi media player. It works okay for avi files and that is about it. My 1 year old grabbed the remote and used it as a swizzle stick in my wife's coffee. Now the remote is non responsive.

I have contacted the manufacturer through their web page but they are not responding to my inquiries.

What can I do to bring the remote back to life?

The remote control has gathered dirt which has led to keys that need quite a lot of force to be activated. I'd like to clean it up, but I simply cannot open the case. There are no screws, no clips, nothing. The battery compartment doesn't reveal anything either. It looks and feels as if it has been glued together, but that doesn't make sense.

I'd appreciate help with this.

My Harmony One remote fell face-down on tile floor and the LCD now looks like a work of modern art. I called support and was disappointed to learn that they do not repair their own products, nor do they have any information about 3rd party repair places. They also don't sell replacement parts (shocker). All they offer is a 3 month warrantee that replaces broken products... Well I've had this remote for a year and a half and was really hoping to keep using it!

So does anyone know where I can buy a replacement LCD for the Harmony One? After looking at the excellent teardown here I think I could handle the fix myself if I had the part... I know it's a longshot, but I had to ask! Thanks ifixers.

Remote Control: Yamaha RAV238 Remote Volume Buttons Inoperative Everything Else is Fine

Hi, this AVR (Yamaha RX-V1400) got moved upstairs and for some reason the volume buttons on the remote RAV238 stopped sending to the AVR. Every other button I touch does send (the red light in the upper left shines when a key is pressed). It's just the volume up / down (press them, no red light) that are the only keys not working.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Logitech Harmony Companion: Battery Won't Stay in

My harmony companion stopped working a few weeks ago. I replaced the battery. 2 days later it stopped working again. The battery was loose, however, I can’t put it back in. When I put it in, it spits it back out. I used the iFixit guide for opening the remote to access the motherboard/buttons, but I can’t figure out what to do about it spitting out the battery. Can anyone help with this? Harmony’s official response was “It sounds like it was dropped”. It’s very possible. I didn’t drop it, but I’m also not the only one to use it.

*Update….I forgot that I took a picture of what mine looked like before putting it together. The main wire that the battery sits on seems to be slightly off center. Would I need to bend it back? I wouldn’t think that would be the issue and I doubt it would bend like that from a drop (as Logitech suggested), but who knows.

This seems to be the norm with remote after a few hours with Tv on WiFi only.

There is nothing wrong with the remote itself.

The easy fix Tested is unplug Tv for 1 minute, and let it restart when plugged in.

It will restart where you left off if it was on Live Tv setting

Remote will now be normal. Unfortunately, this is mandatory daily event.

Best if wall outlet plug in is easy to get at.

There must be an overload of RAM on this set - all updates are current.

A chat with VIZIO support is pending.

My Yamaha RAV227 Remote is suddenly not working . Changed the Batteries. No LCD Display on the Scree, No Transmit Red Light when Buttons are presed. I unscrewed a Screw in the Battery compartment. It is very hard to Pry. Is there any other Screw or so?

The ones I see on Amazon have bad reviews. I bought one with the most "claimed" mAh and it doesn't hold a charge any longer than the 4-1/2 year old original I wanted to replace.
