Tractor: Why does my lawnmower die when I engage the blades?

My 1988 John Deere 175 Hydro Lawn Tractor dies when I engage the blades.

If I disengage the blades quickly after engaging them it will normally stay alive.

Before it dies it does do a power down; it almost sounds like I've turned the key off but I think a key turn off takes a touch less time.

It just started doing this out of the blue. When it initially happened the mower died in the middle of a cutting. After that it wouldn't start. It was suggested to me to replace the fuel filter, so I did. Mower still wouldn't start. I walked for maybe a half hour and came back to the mower starting right up. From that point on the mower starts and runs like it always has but now will not stay on when the blades are engaged.

The blades spin like normal if I reach under and push by hand.

John Deere 870: 440 front end loader will not raise up or down.

My 440 loader on my JD 870 tractor suddenly stopped going up or down. The cylinders are trying because it will move about 1 inch. I checked and added fluid but still doesn’t work. The John Deere store said it is not necessary to bleed the lines. What else should I look at.

John Deere 870: Injector return line leaking

A small hole developed in my 1999 JD 870 injector return line and fuel leaks out even when engine is off. Plastic line, curves along top of engine. Guessing a mouse chewed the hole. I notice the line is in sections. Area affected is about 7-8" with clamps on either end. Can this simply be replaced with a substitute length of line? If so, what are the specs? Suggested removal and replacement tips?

Thanks.

Tractor: Starting a small Massey Ferguson farm tractor?

My small Massey Ferguson tractor has died. The battery is charged up, the electrical doesn't appear to be damaged, the starter seems to be okay, I have removed and cleaned the ignition switch, but nothing causes the starter to turn over. Next step seems to be to replace the ignition switch. Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks.

Tractor: Why is the tiller not spinning when the PTO shaft is?

It seams to be the part between the PTO shaft coming from the tractor and the gearbox on the tiller. From the looks of the diagram I found online it looks like the friction clutch assembly is just spinning freely around the shaft that goes into the gearbox on the tiller. Not sure what could be the problem or what part I may need to fix it.

so I recently had to replace the governor on my Ford 8N as the housing was badly damaged I purchased an after market one and installed it went on no problems (btw this is a gear driven one not a belt driven). after getting it back together my throttle rod from gov to throt control was short and broke when I tried to adjust. I purchased a replacement and installed no problem bot now for some reason when I start the tractor and I adjust the hand throttle the tractor run either at slightly above idle or wide open with no in between and only having moved throt lever 2-3 notches on quadrant. i would also like to say the tractor ran fine before gov replacement and also runs fine other then lack of throttle control

Kohler: Engine will run for 2-5 minutes then die

Engine on Kohler powered tractor will start and run for 2-5 minutes then die. It will not crank for 5-10 minutes. After waiting a bit it will crank and then do same. It does this regardless of outside or engine temps. I have run a jump wire to fuel solenoid to rule out the silenoid stopping fuel at float bowl. I've replaced the air filter and checked all fuel lines for crimps. The fuel pump seems to be working also as i can see fuel flow thru the clear housing of fuel filter and it maintains a constant fuel level. I'm stumped.

Tractor: Manual PTO not engaging blades

Hello - I have a White Outdoor LT-1650 tractor. When the tractor has been running for 15 mins or longer, the manual PTO will not engage the blades. I replaced the belt and spring thinking they may have become stretched out. This didn’t solve the problem. The engine pulley is spinning fine. When I turn the PTO lever, the pulley pushed out fine. It just doesn’t seem to be putting enough pressure on the belt. I can’t find any other adjustments that would solve this issue. Any help would be great.

Tractor: My Open Tractor - How best to present information I have assembled?

I've been working on re-wiring a New Holland 8360 and it's become the target vehicle for my solution to re-wiring older vehicles using CAN Bus technology. Ultimately the hardware will but Open (needs testing in the NH8360) and the Software is currently Open. The project is on Hackaday so you could look at it but it might be a bit verbose if you have no interest in vehicle wiring:-

https://hackaday.io/project/125654-cinna...

Hopefully, if it all works out, I'll end up with an Open NH8360

That's not the question it's just the introduction. In the course of re-wiring the NH8360 I had to go through info I could find and buzz out a lot of wires. Find replacement connectors and generally document the system. I ended putting that information on a wiki at https://www.electronicsoup.com/wiki/

I'm not in the business of communicating with the written word so I'll admit that what I've put on that wiki is possibly not the best, but what is a better way. I guess I should have a look at other tractor data on this site. Could anybody point to an Internet based "Best" presentation of vehicle data? Only one I can think of was articles on the this old tractor site, but that was for a motorcycle ;-) (Moto Guzzi Loop frame)

Thanks for any pointers
