Here’s what’s happening:

• If it’s unplugged, it does absolutely nothing and won’t power on.
• If it’s connected to a wall charger, it immediately starts boot looping (Apple logo for about 5 seconds, black screen for about 3 seconds, then repeats indefinitely).
• The moment I unplug it, it shuts off immediately.
• I replaced the battery with a brand new iFixit battery, but the behavior didn’t change.
• The iPod can enter Recovery Mode and DFU Mode, and my computer recognizes it.
• However, when I try to Update or Restore it using Apple Devices, iTunes, or 3uTools, the instant I click Update/Restore, the iPod exits Recovery Mode, goes black, and then shows the low battery screen. It never gets to the Apple logo with the progress bar.

Has anyone experienced this before or know what hardware issue could cause these symptoms? I’m hoping to repair the iPod without losing the data if possible, so I’d like to avoid restoring it unless absolutely necessary.

When unplugged the battery holds charge quite well, and when plugged in it will immediately show a full battery icon with a lightning bolt inside of it. When in the diagnostics tool, the battery reads as 3.779V and the charging value as 100mA. It has undergone a factory wipe, and is detected by my PC with no issues.

I'm at my wits end here, any advice?

• The iPod has a new battery.
• I had the same issue on different PCs with different cables.
• I tried cleaning the connector with isopropanol.

I need to run jumpers from the missing solder pads for the battery connection but I’m unsure to what points.

Can someone with knowledge please advise?

I accidentally damaged the original battery pad (red circle) and also damaged the small gold via/test point (black circle). To repair the battery connection, I ran a thin copper jumper wire from the yellow circled point, which appears to be a good battery trace/pad, to the damaged battery pad area.

The iPod powers on, but it doesn’t seem to hold a charge properly. I tried charging it, but the battery either doesn’t charge or doesn’t retain the charge.

My questions are:

• Does my jumper repair from the yellow point to the original battery pad look correct?
• Could the damaged gold via/test point in the black circle be part of the charging or battery sensing circuit?
• Is there a way to determine where that damaged via originally connected?
• Has anyone repaired this area on an iPod Nano 7th gen before and knows the correct fix?

ALSO HOW CAN I FIX THAT YELLOW DOT IN THE BLACK CIRCLE

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. I’ve attached photos of the damage and my repair attempt. Thanks!

the device connected to the imac had received the update with itunes then it said to unplug the device from the imac and put it on the charger but it has been plugged in for a long time and waited in the dock but nothing has changed...

how can i fix it

hi, I’m trying to fix three iPods nano 7th generation. I damaged their charging pods in some of them. I don’t know what do I need to do, I’m good at soldering and have a microscope but don’t know what are the next steps. Any help will be highly appreciated it, please take a look at the pictures, it shows the three ipods being affected. Thanks in advance.

On the logic board of an iPod Nano 7th generation, I damaged two solder pad areas marked in my diagram.

One area is inside a black circle where the solder pad is completely lifted or missing. I don’t know where this pad originally connects, and I’m not sure how to properly restore the connection since there is no usable copper left in that spot.

Another area is inside a red circle, which is also damaged but I already ran a repair there.

There is also a yellow circle where I ran a thin copper wire, and that one is the only point I connected to the battery line.

Right now my main issue is the black circled area. I don’t know the correct point on the board to jump it to, or how to trace it properly when the pad is completely gone.

Has anyone repaired something like this before? What is the safest way to find the correct alternate connection point and rebuild that line without risking instability or damaging the board further?

Stuck on a iPod Classic 7th Gen with iFlash Quad build. Would appreciate any help.

Setup:

- iPod Classic 7th Gen

- iFlash Quad

- 256GB + 512GB Samsung EVO Select MicroSD cards (both on confirmed compatibility list)

- New 3600mah battery

Background:

PC crashed and soft locked during first restore attempt. Powered down computer, disconnected the iPod and rebooted. After that the iPod wouldn't boot — stuck asking to restore. I have manual and auto tested the iPod through diagnostic mode. All internals and hardware are recognised by the system and functional.

What I've tried:

- Reseated SD cards - ipod identifies all 768GB, both cards detected.

- Completed iFlash SDXC prep guide, cards formatted to FAT32.

- Tried restoring on Windows with iTunes 12.13 and 12.8 — restore completes fully, success message shows, iPod reboots to Apple logo then immediately drops back into recovery mode. Loops every time.

- Tried restoring on Mac via Finder — restore froze completely for 5+ hours with zero progress.

Any ideas what's causing the restore loop or the Mac freeze. I suspect it is software issue rather than hardware, but otherwise am lost.
