If you had the same issues when the phone was brand new then is it possible the phone shipped with a bad radio? I can't recall seeing any reports of bad factory radios in the newer models, but I can say that my original iPhone 4 had a bad radio and the phone was swapped out at the Apple store - - it was a night and day difference.

Hopefully your trouble started at the screen replacement because it's more likely something you can fix (since Apple is saying no to warranty servicing it for you - - leaving you in a tough spot if you've got a bad radio...)

So provided the trouble started after you switched the screens , can you tell us whether you removed any components inside the main body/casing? Because this shouldn't have been necessary (other than removing the multitude of screen-related connectors on the logic board)l, and also disconnecting the battery to prevent accidentally shorting out and frying your LED back light driver circuit. )

Assuming you stuck to the proper protocol and did not unnecessarily violate anything on the logic board side of things then the best theory I can offer is to check the following:

When you remove the touch ID retainer metal bracket, one of those screws that's close to the large metal LCD heat shield also holds a very small grounding clip with a connector prong that sticks out. This clip may be easy to lose, but additionally, from my own experience several months ago, I recall it was also easy to reorient it incorrectly (because it can rotate) and that the correct orientation was somewhat non-intuitive I think.

I've never come across a definitive description of what this clip is for, but I suspect that this large metal heatshield would be a compelling choice for use as cellular antenna grounding plane. If so, then it would be essential that said heat shield is properly connected to the antenna ground.

So check that that clip is there and try to make sure it is properly orientated and contacting the metal LCD heat shield and the prong is properly sticking out and clean it with alcohol and make sure it is mating against whatever (likely gold) connection pad on the logic board side of things when you close up the phone--so it provides that connection.

I believe the clip is mentioned and/or photographed in one of the various web teardowns -- perhaps on iFixit -- though I don't know if there's a good enough photograph that clearly shows the correct orientation or not…
