I think you should be able to get it working again by flashing the firmware over the phone which should not wipe any data on your phone but basically re-install the system software on your phone without any reset.

Download the system software from this website:

http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/

You will need to specify your model number which you can find at the back of your phone at the battery compartment.

You will need to also use a program called ODIN which you can also download it from Sammobile when downloading firmwares (system updates). Follow the instructions on the website and you should be fine.

Otherwise if you want to be safe, you willTL:DR - You need to downloadflash a custom recovery called Clockworkmod for your Samsung Galaxy S3stock ROM over the existing one. Use the latest Android Version and operator (What network provider you use) which you can put it onmatches your phone via ODIN while your phone is in 'download mode' and plugged inphone. This waybasically should allow you can actually backup everything onto boot up the phone with your phone todata fine. Hopefully it's just a microSD card while onsoftware update issue that custom recovery. Note that you will need to mount /data and /system to backup most if not allcan be fixed by just reflashing the stuff on the phone. I'mstock ROM via Odin with your phone in download mode.

I'm
a bit busy right now to type down instructionsprovide more information sorry.
