Hello! My MacBook Pro mid 2010, in system information, perfectly recognizes both the two modules of 8 GB of DDR HynniX-1066 RAM. Apparently, so far, the Mac has worked stably and very well with both High Sierra 10.3.6, but also with Mojave (using Mojave Patcher) and now works "apparently" well with MacOS 10.15 Catalina (with Catalina Patcher ).
But .. I HAVE DISCOVERED AN HIDDEN ISSUE. If I test the RAM using TechTool Pro or Rember (https://www.kelleycomputing.net/support/rember) or using memtest (included in Rember) I get the same results as this forum: https: // discussions.apple.com/thread/4906714.
So! Is it worth using 16GB in an old MacBook? ... I don't know ... Maybe for those who use this for fun or to surf the Internet. Certainly it is not a good thing to use it for work, knowing that RAM is not read well and that the Data could be corrupted.

The 2010 MacBook Pro, therefore, supports very well up to 16 GB of RAM provided ('''very important!''') if you have installed the latest version of the Firmware.
I solved perfectly with 16 GB of RAM purchased from Amazon. Exactly search with Google: Timetec Hynix IC Apple 16GB Kit (2x8GB) DDR3 PC3-8500 1066MHz memory upgrade for iMac 20 inch /21.5 inch / 24 inch / 27 inch, MacBook Pro 13 inch / 15 inc

This RAM is perfect! Now, if I test the RAM using TechTool Pro or Rember (from kelleycomputing.net site) or using memtest (included in Rember) the Test gives me a fast Clock (all 2-2-2-2 !!!!!!) like the best RAM used by Apple.
