Hi all,
My MacBook Pro 13" 2017 has been having battery issues for a while - a few months ago the battery used to lose charge very quickly, but that stopped for a while and I believed all was well. Sadly, this week it has been barely charging - charging on and off at 30 second intervals. The cables I have been using work fine
There has been a 'service recommended' sign in the battery tab for some time, but I am poor so I have been avoiding this.
Today I looked into things a bit more. The cycle count is 676, I checked on the apple website and I think the max cycle count it is supposed to get to before needing service/replacement is 1000
I have just reset the SMC, and this has helped - it is now charging properly and has gone from 12% to 25% in the past 10 minutes which is the first time this has happened in days. Also, the "time until fully charged" changed from over 5 hours to just over 2 hours
Sadly, the 'service recommended' sign is still there. Just wondering if it is foolish of me to continue ignoring this if the cycle count is low / it is now charging normally; or if anyone else has encountered this and has a fix that doesn't involve paying £245 for a new battery at the apple store.
Thanks in advance for any advice :)
