Might not be a speaker problem.
It could be that there's a problem with the audio output from the PC.
Have you tried using headphones with a 3.5mm stereo audio plug and plugging that into the audio out port of the PC?
Can you try using a different USB power supply (phone charger with USB socket that you can plug the speaker cable into perhaps?) just to prove whether it is the power supply form the PC, or in the speaker that is the problem
If it is determined that it is the PC and not the speakers, then what is the make and model number of the PC or motherboard if a custom build?

+Here's an image taken from your images where I've highlighted the faulty capacitor you mentioned that looks like it needs to be replaced but maybe also check the others ones behind as well as I couldn't see them clearly.
+
+Also there appears to be a dry solder joint on the solder side of the board that needs to be resoldered so that it makes a good electrical connection.
