I stupidly deleted settings and now I can't do anything.

I bought this iPod Touch 4th generation used and the former owner still had their iTunes account info in it so I went to settings and hit delete thinking it would restore to default settings, but instead it seems to have deleted everything. When I power up it shows a picture of a usb cord with an arrow toward an iTunes logo. I tried plugging into my laptop, but the laptop doesn't "see" it. I have never even used the iPod yet. I thought I was doing the right thing by deleting the former owner's info, but yuck... now I don't know what to do. Please advise. Thanks.

jeannie6, put the iPod in DFU and restore with your iTunes. Use this for more info on how to do that, if needed. Hope this helps, good luck.

I can't get this to work. Does the computer have to "see" the iPod before iTunes will know to restore it? I plug in the iPod and the computer doesn't see it. I've never had this iPod plugged in to anything before. But I am trying to do the DFU thing over and over again. Any more help would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Yes, if it remains undetected by your computer, itunes will not know it is there. Check on here http://www.technipages.com/fix-ipod-touc... to make sure that it is not your computer that is giving you a hard time. What do you get when you place you iPod in DFU? It is not very easy....

I don't if it IS in DFU. How would I know? Sometimes the apple comes up for a very long time. Sometimes nothing happens. Then I let it sit and after a while I get that picture of the usb pointing at the iTunes logo. That's usually what I get when I hit the power button on top. I have attempted the DFU thing through 2 different laptops. Same result so I don't think it's the computer. Confused.

If you see the iTunes icon and cable on your iPod, it is not in DFU mode. Follow the steps from here

Tried this several times. Nothing happens. There are no noises.

I don't know what to do. I get apple or I get iTunes logo.

Try holding the home button while you are plugging it in and see if that helps the computer recognize it. Make sure you charge the device for a hour or so first to ensure the battery is not to low.
