iPod Touch 4th Gen - Battery Replaced, now not completing charge

Hey guys,

I've just replaced the battery on an iPod Touch 4th Gen.

I used slightly too much solder, but eventually flattened it out and removed the excess. I've quite sure it's ok now.

It successfully turns on when plugged into my computer, but has been sitting at the "battery with a red sliver of charge w/ charging lightning bolt" for about 45 mins without it actually booting up.

I've tried home+power reset to no avail.

I'm going to just leave it plugged in for a while and hope it finally boots up, but I was hoping someone could give any ideas in case it doesn't.

Cheers

Update: It doesn't appear to be holding any charge at all. Should I risk resoldering the battery?

Aaron, that is definitely where I would start. Make sure that you clean the excessive solder properly and that you do not get to much heat on the solder pads. It is possible that the solder connections are shortened out due to excessive solder.

Apologies for the delayed response.

I tried resoldering from scratch several times and gave up. I ended up sending it off to a mate. He's received it, but hasn't gotten back to me with a verdict yet.

I'll let you guys know as soon as I do.

A picture of the soldered connection would give us a better insight to if it's bad or good.

Have you considered the new battery may be faulty?
