Replaced Hard drive w/ SSD, now it won't start up!

I just replaced my 15" 2008 MacBook Pro core 2 Duo (200GB) hard drive with a (500GB) Samsung 840 series SSD.

I did all the data migration, and followed the iFixit manuals.

It started up fine once, so I shut it down to reconnect my printer and an external hard drive i use for backups. Now, I get as far as the gray apple screen, and then a super-quick flash of a progress bar before it shuts down again.

Putting the old hard drive back in fixes it, but that hard drive is on it's way out and I was hoping to replace it before it goes.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Try booting with no peripherals - do a safe boot, if that doesn't work try to enter AHT (hold down the D key).

Okay, I ran Disk Utilities on the new SSD, and it seemed that all the data on it had been corrupted.

I initialized it again, and did the data migration over.

Seems to work fine now.

New SSD is up and running beautifully.

Thanks for the quick response machead3.

Does this SSD of Samsung 840 give beachballls on your macbook? (I have a model A1226 2,4ghz MBP and it does give problems on boot) Although mine is from vertex 3 OCZ...
