Battery replaced, no earpiece sound

Didn't find an answer, so...

I replaced the battery according to instructions here. But when I got to removing ribbon cable 3 with white clip, the clip started coming apart anywhere i GENTLY lifted it (as instructed of course). Was as it the plastic was old an rotten. But the cable slipped out and I actually slipped it back in on reassembly.

But alas, no sound from the little speak at the top of the screen. Is there a possibility the ribbon cable does not correctly connect even though it appears to be slipped into place?

I can hear it if I put on bluetooth, turn on the speaker, or use an earphone in the jack.

Also did not see the screen adapt to the surrounding light but I was not really testing that.

And is there a way to fix that little white clip so it works properly?

sounds like you have damaged the ribon cable. inspect for even the slightest tear, as that will have a major inpact on both the ambiant light sensor and the top spekaer.. when in a call does the screen auto shut off when you put it to your face if not than that flex cable needs to be replaced... something like this wiil be fine.... http://www.sunsky-online.com/view/16923/...

I wii probably have to replace that cable then, but what about that white clip that seems to crumble at the slightest attempt to lift it for sliding the cable in and out?

I never actually lifted that clip since it cracked in each place I tried to lift it.

I tried to have a #3 connector assembly (which you CAN buy) replaced but it was an impossible job even for a good technician. You might try sliding a small non-conductive shim under the #3 cable to add upward pressure to the cable .. it might work. Worst case scenario .. just use the speakerphone.. somehow the sound carries through the phone and up to the earpiece. Hey.. it works!
