Cyber Clean stuck in speaker mesh.

I was recently cleaning the dust out of my iPhone 5 using a product called Cyber Clean http://www.cyberclean.net/cleaning/en/Pr... Well it was removing the dust but some of the cyber clean got stuck in the speaker mesh. Now the clogged speaker mesh is preventing a good amount of the sound from exiting the phone. Sound quality is horrible now and max volume is not max anymore, loudness of sound has decreased. I have tried a sewing needle, tweezers, vacuum but no luck. Apple genius did a free clean but could only do so much. Cost $229 to send to Apple for a clean which I will not do. So how can I remove something that is lodged in the iPhone 5 speaker mesh (compressed air is worthless that will just push in further). If I were to take apart the iPhone just to get to the mesh would Apple be able to detect that I opened the phone. I heard some of the screws are coated with locktite and if the bond is broken the warranty is voided. The Apple genius already opened the phone to do somewhat of a cleaning, so he had to at least break the bond on some locktite screws. The first step to get in the phone is removing the glass screen. How susceptible to breaking is the glass screen when it is being lifted off the case. But do i really need to remove the entire speaker just to get to the mesh. I have found no videos on how to clean the i5 speaker mesh. Any help would be much appreciated.

Hi bobby,

A lot of people have a problem with a dirty speaker mesh.

This may sound stupid but the best option without removing the speaker is to try the sucking method. Just suck on it really hard and it should remove most of the debris.

If for some reason this doesn't work 4 you. Just open the iphone and replace it. Dont think there's a void on the srews

Have a nice repair

How gentle do I have to be with the glass when I am pulling it up with the suction cup? What do I have to remove to get to the speaker mesh? Thank you, so far you have been the most help

You have to put the suction cup on the bottom of the screen, pull as hard as the cup can. Put a gitar pick between glass and frame. Pry it up.

I have done 4 already and they came off pretty easy.

Have you tried the sucking method first?

I used a vacuum (used the hand held attachment) and that did the trick! Clear and crisp volume from the phone now.

I had the same problem with my iPhone 4, CyberClean stuck in the mesh. I had to open the case, disassemble to the point of removing the speaker assembly, apply screen cleaner to both sides of the mesh, allow the blockage to dissolve, and then blast it with an Air Duster from the inside out. I had to repeat the process 4 or 5 times. Note that without the screen cleaning liquid, the Cyberclean didn't budge at all, it was stuck fast. Held the phone up to a light so I could see which bits of the mesh were clear.

I'd assume the iPhone 5 is a similar process. And it's amazing that the phone is now back to full volume just from cleaning a wee bit of mesh.
