my iphone lock button randomly stopped working and i have tried replacing it, but i cant get the button to pop up (as if it is constantly stuck down. the cable works as i can push the button with a pen if i use the phone without a lock button. i just dont know why when i put a button in, it will not click

if you replace the ribbon cable and you are having the same issue. try loosen the screws a lil bit. this should work

Had this on one before and ended up slightly loosening one screw as suggested above.
Had tried unsticking and re-aligning the flex several times but never got it right.
I now have a patly-rebuilt 4S total strip down with a volume+ button that is similarly not playing ball :(
