Display not straight when closed

Hello, I bought this machine several months ago off ebay. Ever since I got it, the display has been crooked on the left hand side when it closes. However, it still sleeps and functions perfectly.

Recently, the LCD panel cracked. I have ordered a new one, and since I have to open up the display assembly, I fugre I might as well fix that problem while I am there. Does anyone know if this is a problem specific to a loose hinge, or would it be how the assembly mounts in the case? I will of course tighten everything when I get in there, just curious if there is something specific I need to do or look out for.

Thanks.

I would think the unit was dropped and the hinge either torn inside or bent. Check both hinges where they meet the lower case... they both could be slightly torqued.

Thanks! Not only did I get the display panel replaced, but I noticed the left hinge was bent upward. I took a pair of pliers to it, and then just started bending it back with my hand. I used a bubble level app on my iphone, it was 6 degrees out of alignment! but I got it back to 0, and the case now closes perfectly. It must have been dropped in it's past life. Oh well, I got the chipping top case replaced by apple for free under the repair extension, and got a new keyboard and trackpad out of it.

Now I just need to wait for the key hinges to arrive for the 2 that got damaged, pop on the key caps, and it will be as good as new. Can't seem to find a guide for it here on ifixit, but i'm sure I will find something if I google it.
