1 PS3 fat console won't turn on after power surge?
I have PS3 fat console. Last week there was power outage for whole night. Next day when supply was resumed, there was power surge. Since than the console is dead. No response, no lights blinking, not even yellow.
My brother took it to the local Sony repair center. They offered to replace it with new slim console with 50% discount. Please help me. I have already opened the console and I feel the problem is with power supply. I also noticed a sticky light yellow moisture like residue on the mother board.

Photos would be good to help determine the damage (if any). You are correct it is most likely the Power Supply that is faulty.

Hi, there is no visible damage, if you mean burn marks. This thing is just dead, no blinks, no movement. If I have to change the power supply, how much it will cost in India? Can I just swap the black box or is there any other modification? What about thermal pads? The device is 2 years old.
