transferring info onto new hard drive using super duper
Do I need an external inclosure to transfer all my data or can I use my external hard drive to put data onto new hard drive. I used super duper.

It depends on how you go about it.
If you have a second Mac you can use Apples' Upgrade Assistant app setting up your system in Target Mode
You can also use Time Machine to restore from an external HD.
Cloning is needed when you don't have a second system or a means to copy over your stuff to the new drive just by dragging across the two drives (having fresh system files on the new HD).

If you used SuperDuper to clone your original drive onto your external drive, you need to hook the external drive up to your new computer and boot from it ( hold down the Option key on start up to select it. After booting from the external just use SuperDuper to clone it onto the new drive. You can also connect the two machines via a firewire cable and use target mode to connect them (hold down the "T" key on start up. Start up from the old machine then use SuperDuper to clone the drive onto the new one.

Mayer I did just order a external enclosure because I thought I needed it but still can use it with the old drive. I will try using the external when I boot up after installing new drive. I appreciate you help
FYI - Apples Upgrade Assistant App is much faster that SuperDupper Cloner.
Ok I thought everything was going well with the upload until it was 12 hours later and super duper was saying that my 250 gig external hd had already put 500 gig of info onto new hard drive so I finally stopped it and I'll see what happened, I guess nothing. I'll try again.
I used time machine and it worked, thank you.
