Well you could review this thread Will it work? As you can see there is a bit of debate on the subject ;-}

To start with the part is still not available and I don't think it will be for quite sometime as Apple will eating everyone that comes off the assembly line.

OK, So lets say you got one, the next issue is the antennas within your system will need to be the same as the newer models which just by looking at the tear downs I don't think they are. So that will crimp the throughput.

Next, Do you really need that kind of throughput? Most of us just don't have internet connections that could even push 1/2 as much down. Now, if you had your own server to access then you might but that also means your server is setup to offer out that much of a stream. Again, most of us just don't have RAIDED systems that could do this.

Don't get me wrong here. In the future we will likely have this level of throughput but thats still a good five years away. Bottom-line here save your money.

The dimensions are the same. The interface should be compatible, the only problem left is whether the antennas match or not.

Yes, it does work and the part number from Apple is 653-0029.

And I can confirm that the antennas in my early 2013 are the same, and I would imagine the prior ones are the same as some used the same part.

You are assuming the antenna's are the same configuration as your system in the older MBPr model by your statement here. Unless you open the display assembly to check them out or have made the effort on doing a good network performance comparison between the two boards in each system (swapping out N to AC & AC to N) we just don't know what Apple has done with their antenna design to guess. Lastly, the part alone is about $50 US so its still a question if its worth doing given the other limitations people have within their own networks and/or access to the internet today.

Tim, can you check the APN of the display assemblies of the two computers? If they are the same, there will no longer be any doubts.

I can't find the part number for the Late-2013 MacBook Pro.

It doesn't look like the antenna is separable from the display, but the part number for the display clamshell is 661-7171.
