Black Lines on LCD (just replaced)

Black Lines on LCD (just replaced)

I just replaced the front panel on my iPhone 4S using *cough cough* ebay.com parts. I now see these "trails" whenever there is something displayed. They move with the words, so if I scroll up, they stay with the associated text. It almost seems as if everything has been dragged horizontally across the screen and this is what is left over. I am linking two pictures to help describe symptoms. Please let me know if you know why this is happening. Not sure if contacts that are for LCD need to be cleaned or if this is just a crappy LCD. Thanks :)

Yep it's definitely a failed LCD, we've had plenty like this. Just get another one (even from the same supplier) and it'll probably be fine.

And on't worry about buying from eBay, you can get good parts and if you're just starting up or playing around with repair, it's probably the best place. Just make sure the seller has a good rep and pay for parts that are average price, not highest price and "certainly not" cheapest price. just go in the middle somewhere.

But even the best suppliers can send you faulty parts, our current supplier of iPhone 5 screens is amazing, but we still received one which wouldn't power on last week, and another the week before.

So just speak to the seller and tell them and they will allow you to return it for a refund. As an eBay seller ourselves, we can promise you one thing, eBay is 110% on your side as a buyer. So if the seller refuses a refund or replacement. raise it to eBay and you'll get your money back.

You also have a rub mark (darker area) as well. This is caused by mishandling the panel. You'll need to replace it.

Dan - What exactly is a rub mark and where is it located? When installing I tried to be extremely careful and I want to make sure I don't make the same mistake. Thanks.

Basically it's where someone pressed on the back of the lcd and created a dark patch by bending the backlight film or filter.

But Dan, where are you seeing this, I cant see it, there's a smear in pic 1 but it's not there in 2 or 3 so, if that's what you mean it's not definitely a rub mark.

!st & 3rd images show it. Look just to the right of the degree mark on the 1st image that black spot is also present on the third. The 2nd image's angle is hiding it.

Dan, that's a black icon on the home screen. That's why its dark there.
