First let me say I have reset the iPod and made sure the ear buds are flushed with the iPod. I am not sure why it keeps shutting off. I did think it was my ear buds and tried them with another music and they work fine (they are beats). Please help. I really like this iPod and apple doesn't make this one anymore.

Does your Ipod screen go black after a minute or two? It may be a simple setting such as crossfade, or a sleep setting, anything really so doublecheck the settings first and foremost.
After that, try cleaning the headphone jack hole, and the headphone jack itself. For this you can use a needle for the port, and isopropyl alcohol for the jack itself.
Next, if you can backup your device before so I would suggest that, Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and Volume Down button simultaneously for at least eight seconds or until the Apple logo appears. You may need to repeat this step. This will reset your device to factory settings.
If the above instruction did not work try connecting iPod to a power adapter and plug the power adapter into an electrical outlet, or connect iPod to your computer. Make sure the computer is turned on and isn't set to go to sleep. Try resetting the iPod while it is connected to power.

I tried doing the reset. I had checked settings and there is no sleep setting. To answer your question yes it does go black after a minute or so.

Mine would play about 15 seconds then stop. Also I could tell the earphone jack felt funky. I took a toothpick, broke the pointy tip off so it was blunt, wet it with alcohol, and cleaned the hole out. Pulled out a bunch of lint. They blew it out with my mouth (too lazy to get the air compressor going). Problem solved. And the plug seats much better in the jack now too.
