White screen after toddler had phone.

My son (20 months old) got ahold of my iphone and slobbered the daylights out of it. The phone now just has a white screen when it powers up and such. I thought that it was probably the display that went out so i bought a display for the phone ( by display i mean the whole display assembly ). My phone however still just has a white screen when it powers up. The computer / itunes recognizes the phone when i plug it in. I can power the phone off and i can unlock the screen so it seems like a vast majority of the phone works.

I have rebooted the phone by holding power and home and i have recovered the phone using itunes.

One thing of concern is that on the number 1 socket there are a couple contacts that are a bit dull in color and not shiny like the other ones. I wish i had a magnifier on hand to look closer. I have been attempting to clean and polish them up with trimmed down q tips and iso alcohol.

What else should i try? I have a soldering iron but it is not meant for such small work lol it ws great when soldering wires but not pcb.
