PS3 powers off after 30 seconds with no video but boots safe mode.
My 40Gb PS3 phat came to me with this problem. It will power itself off after a few seconds but nothing will display in the meantime. The hard drive light blinks hen the power button is pressed and then again as it goes off. I can reach safe mode and it will stay on.None of the safe mode options do anything however. Most of them just return "hard drive not found" of something to that effect. I have tried updating the firmware with every version available But it just returns "critical error" It does request "3.6 or higher" by the way. I've never seen this. If anyone has it would be great.

And Yes the Hard Drive is fine. Recently hard formatted and tested.

UPDATE: The unit stays on slightly longer (still no display) with a larger HDD out of a working unit but will still power off.
