Can't boot into windows partition

I have mac os x and windows partition on my hd. I popped in redhat linux to install it to an external harddrive and now when i try to boot into my windows partition I get "Grub disc loader error" ... something to that nature.

How to I fix this. I have tried using the xp cd in recovery and running fixboot, no work.

I suggest fixing your MBR (Master Boot Record) by following the directions here for macs or here for Windows 7 and here for Windows XP

NOTE: You should run this on Mac OS X.

ALSO: did you try to hold down option as your mac started up? This is another option, hold down option as the computer is starting up, and click OS X and when you are loaded into it, go to system prefs, startup disk and click the mac os x partition. You can also (Maybe?) do this on the install DVD

Insert the DVD and while your mac stars up, press and hold C to boot into it, then go into "Startup Disk" or something like that and choose the Mac OS X partition.

If you manage to boot to windows, go to Boot Camp Control Panal and change the boot priority to Mac OS X again.

Just try the option button technique first as it is the simplest. If it works, you don't need to do anything else.

yes i have held the option key. i also have refit so my installed OS's automatically come up without the option key. The problem is I can boot into my Mac Osx but when I try to boot into windows and error comes up saying "Grub Hard disk error" which leads me to believe that the windows boot loader has been affected. I used the xp cd to go to recovery and run fixboot. That didn't work. Im going to google exactly how boot camp and the MBR work 2gether bc fixboot was my best card and it didn wrk

Looks like Grub (Linux Bootloader) wrecked your partition table. Unfortunatly this is a clear case of RTFM. Haven't read the manuals myself (all OSX here) i have no other suggestion then rescuing the data and start from scratch.

Grub just overwrote the MBR, its easy to fix that by following the directions above.
