How can I keep the display glass on after reassembly?

Howdy iFixit!

I was very weary about removing the display glass on my cousin's 17-inch MacBook Pro because once you remove the glass on these MacBook Pros, the display is usually never the same. In other words—the glass never sticks as well as it used to.

In my case, the glass does not want to stick in the display AT ALL. Even though I properly cleaned the old adhesive off and put new adhesive strips on, let them set overnight and everything, the glass simply pulls away from the display back slowly and eventually falls out.

I purchased these adhesive strips, which I thought would probably work. I know I didn't buy them from iFixit, but I figured they'd do the trick. Clearly I was wrong.

Is there some better adhesive strips I can buy? Did I miss something about how long you're supposed to let the strips set?

Any advice on the matter would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
