This an educational product sold by Elenco. It is fairly simple to build and repair. It essentially a large circuit board with capacitors, resistors, and switches.

I'm not a professional electrician so am I capable of replacing the components on my own? What tools would I need to use?

Yes! believe it or not but you dont have to be an expert electrician to fix this device. Due to the nature of the device, working on it is very easy. All you need to do is learn how to solder, which is very simple, and you may want to have a few tools like a solder iron, tweezers, and a multimeter.

All you need to do is learn how to solder, which is very simple, and you may want to have a few tools like a solder iron, tweezers, and a multimeter.
