How do I fix edge-to-center swipe sensor?

When working properly, I should be able to swipe edge to center to close a window and return to my desk top. That swipe sensor stopped working and now I am relying on my side return button too much. So now, the side return button is not as responsive. Is this something I can fix or should I see a repair person?
