Hi,

I have the connections for the wires which goes towards the earphones. There are total 16 wires which needs to be soldered. If you want the images of the same please provide me your email id and I will email it to you.

Thanks

This is great! But I what's the difference between the first and second picture? Two sides of the part? And you say "Blue & Golden" are you referring to two different wires, or the same one with two colors? Thanks! andreboaretto@yahoo.com.br

из

The 02 pictures are 02 different sides. 1 side has 8 wires and same goes for the back side. Also wherever i have mentioned 02 colours that means the same wire has 02 colours. They are not separate wires. Hope this clarifies your doubt.

This happened to me too. 2nd time the headphone cord ripped out of noise cancellation box after the cable became snagged. I didn't yank it or abuse it just normal day-to-day activities snagged the cable and pulled it loose. I believe this is really a bad design issue. A jack there would make much more sense than soldered connections. Any ideas how to secure it so it doesn't rip. Or give me a short soldered connection with a jack we can plug into and that breaks away easily without destroying >$200 set of headphones! I'm not an electrical engineer so maybe a jack with 8 wires and 16 connections isn't feasible, but I surely am frustrated by this.

Thank you! Please send me your schematics, and I am going to try to solder it back. terenceswee at gmail.com

Hi

I used these on an airplane and accidentally ripped the jack from the main battery body part.

Does anyone know which wires need to be soldered to which point? Photos attached.

Help appreciated!

Thanks

@stillhungry @deepak

Fixed one with audio jack ripped out of casing today. There are 5 pads

G=Ground=copper color

L=Left=light blue

R=Right=red

M+=Mic+=white inner wire

M-=Mic-=dark green outer wire (Other pics that I’ve seen looks black)

Here is a pic (not mine)

Block Image

Mine had plastic covering all the solder junctions. Cleaned it off with soldering iron+xacto knife. Careful to not melt off the stud at the red arrow

Block Image

Soldering not so easy. Easy to have a stray strand (if mic + and - touch, then no mic and audio controls) Best have micro soldering equipment. Wires gets twisted upon assembly. and the whole clip has to rotate under the board to get into the body. I thought about removing the board but the flex cable at green arrow gave me caution.

Block Image

Coated the solder junctions with rubber cement (or anything to insulate and secure it that doesn’t expand or shrink)

Hi, Chris!

I hope you resolved problem and fix your headphones?

I was able open this box - housing is opened only by cutting the rubber sheath.

But I have cutted cable from headphones side(torn cable)

And 6 out of 12 cords I have no idea how where to should be connected(

I would be grateful if you could take a picture or paint contacts connected, because I don't have any idea how!

Thank you very much!

Best wishes!

Did anyone solve this problem? I have the same issue.

I just purchased a broken pair of Bose QuietComfort20 earbuds from ebay. The description indicates that the headphone jack was accidentally ripped out of the main board (with the active noise canceling). The photos from this device can be found here: http://imgur.com/yy0gow6 I was able to open these quite easily. I had to peel off the ends which had a sticker type protection over them and then was able to pry the rest of the case open using a razer blade and another sharp straight edge. So, after opening this up I see that it appears to be some kind of black compound/glue on the connections and it appears to be 11 different wires that got ripped off the board. The real question is, how can I tell where they should be reconnected and how should I go about doing it? Any advice, picture or schematic is welcome!

Feel free to email me if you can help :)

Hi,

I've the same problem of cable disoldered...

yesterday i disassembled it, but i've only 12 wires, not 16!

Maybe it's because i've QC20 earphones and not QC20i (Apple edit)

Anyway, could you send me the pictures of your repair ?

arnaud.rigole@outlook.fr

Thank you in advance!!!

I did the repair yesterday - forget it if you do not have HIGH LEVEL skills in soldering…if you HAVE the skills the pictures above are enought. 4 of the 16 wires are covered inside a coaks-like cosntruct. Mine is working again but it was a pain in the ass.

Chris, would you mind to explain how you opened and closed the box without ruining it? Had a pair with a loose wire somewhere around the strain relief also where some hot glue is on the cable, so pretty much &&^&@@, but I basically Tore apart the box trying to open it. Something bent, and on the side where the traffic awareness button is a little bit torn etc no &&^&^$^ way to close that $@$* again, so TLDR I ruined it.. How the heck did you do it. I'm kind of !#^&@@ that the expensive &&^&@*@ are so impossible to repair on your own without hacking something together to keep them together after opening them.

Cheers.

Maybe you should have taken some anger management classes before you decided to rage quit the entire unit...just kidding, I agree QC20 is some overpriced unservicable &&^&^$^ $@$* Anyway, since one of the earpieces first dropped the sound intermittently and then went dead, I decided to "service" it anyway. I was able to pry open the volume control box using two common household items, basically a razor to cut open the sides along the "seam" which then made them come apart (broke some plastic tabs that was keeping the two case halves together in the process, but avoided warping the entire case so it could still be refit and glued back basically in the same shape) and then used a thin, hard metal wire to pry out the circuit board - it is attached to one of the case halves with some sticky foam which was easy enough the remove by prying with the wire. The problem turned out to be that the ultra thin wires had lost some insulation so there was a short circuit. Haven´t fixed that one yet...

Really helpful set of pictures, have you any tips on how to strip the very fine wires ready for soldering and also do you know what each of the 16 wires for the earbud cable do ie left, right channel, mike, pause etc .

wires are coated with insulation. I just melted them off but probably not the best way (not sure al came off cleanly). Might ask micro soldering tech best way. Not sure what 16 wires you are referring to but the 5 wire earbud cable spec is listed on top of post. Controls like mic on/off, pause,forward etc are signals embedded in those 5 wires. Note the controls don't work in some apple products (worked on my 2014 Macbook Air but not iPhone 6S) so look up the Bose spec on compatibility.
