Most times I make or receive calls on my phone I have a hard time hearing whoever is on the other side of the call. Does this mean i need to replace the speaker? Or maybe the whole phone? I'd rather not buy a new phone if this can be fixed for less money.

Insure that your speaker does not have obstructions. Clean the speaker holes off with a dry toothbrush or similar.
If there are no obstructions, the speaker is likely faulty. Replace the speaker.
