Where is the wifi antenna?
Where is the wifi antenna? I have a moto x with poor wifi signal. can I buy a replacement?

The WiFi Antenna is the top shield that you see inside of the phone that contains the loudspeaker and headphone jack. The reason you have a weak WiFi signal is because the metal contacts on the main board aren't making a good connection with the contacts that you see on the shield. I suggest ordering a new shield.

Having replaced the battery, and getting everything else to work, I'm seeing good receive signal strength (using Wifi Analyzer), generally good luck getting list of available SSIDs, but then horrible luck completing the connection, or if that works, getting any data communications to work. Sounds like difficulty with the transmit side, which is hard to test for, since Wifi Analyzer doesn't see non-routers apparently.
Is this likely to be the shield issue. Should things be better if I manually pinch the top, as a test?
