Is it safe to connect a solar panel to the Air.

This means that the maximum input voltage that will NOT damage the MacBook is 24V?

I have a solar panel which outputs 18V, and no one seems to know if it is safe to connect it to the Air.

I have the 13-inch Early 2015 MacBook Air, but I guess the same stuff applies.

Nikos Kanellopoulos it will be difficult to run any laptop directly off a Solar Panel because the power supply is too variable. Consider the difference of output of the panel between full sunlight and cloudy days. Also, and this is important, you do need to consider the wattage of the panel to run the laptop. Your MBA would need at least 45Watts to run, so your panel will have to have a 2.5amp output. Possible? Yes, but it will require a bit of engineering. I would consider to connect the Solar panel to a battery with a DC charge controller. Then connect a generic car charger to the battery and your Macbook Air. It will only be safe if you consider the complete setup.
