How do I re-align the paper rollers in my Epson WF 2540?

I pulled paper out when it first got jammed but not in the correct fashion. There are no bits of paper jammed inside. Whenever I turn it on there is a Printer Error which says to turn it off and then back on again at which time there is a high pitched sound and a warning of a paper jam inside the product. It asks you to lift the lid. Remove paper, of which there is none, then close it up and press power button.
