Screen repair, purple line and now error 53

Ive broken my iPhone 6 screen and replaced it with a new one. I definitely kept my original home button in place.

Upon turning the phone on Im getting purple around the edging of screen and a very small fine line vertically down the screen. It is purple on black and green on other colours, very very fine line...

I thought maybe cable wasn't in right but I've tried all four of the cables going from display to mainboard.

Ive disconnected battery aswell and have tried to do a restore and now my iPhone is stuck in recovery mode giving me error 53. This seems to be related to the touch id but my fingerprint scanner was working fine before.

Another issue is getting the screen to slot in right, its slightly raised up at the home button end, as if screen is too big for phone...

What should i do now, any way to fix these problems, can i revert back to the way my phone was on 8.3

When I put the screen on the first time i had loads of purple lines so I popped the display data cable connector off and back on again and was better. Maybe this connector has been damaged and thats why one purple line remains..

Would this connector give error 53 if faulty....

Disconnect the screen cable, hold them level to your eyes. They should be flat. If they are "banana'd" outward (the smooth side of the connector is on the inside of the curve), bend them ever so gently until they are straight again or slightly bend inward (the connector should now be to the inside of the curve). I usually do this because the replacement screens have very thin connector that often bend when ben pressed in place or pried off.

Got it going, all I had to do was disconnect home button connector and reinsert it. Im almost there. I still have a bit of a purple border around the edges, kind of faded. Ive checked connectors with magnifying glass and straightened out the first one that goes on as it was a little banana shaped. Still no good...

Also is there is any issues getting the display pushed on, I can't get the button half pushed in properly, screen is not nice and flush on the home button half on display but its all good at the top half...

My advice is to put back your old screen, connect all the cables and put back all the screws (in their exact original respective spots), wipe your fingerprints, and take it to an Apple Store to have the screen replaced. In the process, they also replace the Touch ID button and cable since they replace the whole assembly.

They won't touch it if you take it with the new copy screen installed.

This is your best bet at this point, in case you damaged the button assembly or the connecting cable. And if your iPhone doesn't work with the assembly they provided, you'll know something was damaged on the logic board itself. At this point, they can offer to replace the whole phone for circa 1/2 the cost of the original one. Or you can choose to refuse the repair.

If you don't want to go this way, you need a new screen assembly and a new Touch ID interconnect cable to test your phone and zero in on what's wrong, such as:

- Screen assembly was defective or damaged during installation;

- Home button itself was damaged;

- Home button interconnect cable was damaged;

- Connectors on the board were damaged;

- Connectors need reseating;

- Some combination of the above OR all of the above.

I bought the screen from aliexpress. It was bought as a full screen assembly with flex cable, home button and metal plate all assembled.

I don't actually have the old screen. I made an attempt to separate the glass and although it was near successful there was a heat spot in the lcd so I binned it

Your phone is useless now. This iPhone 6 is made in such a way that if the logic board does not "see" the original home button that came paired with it, it will get stuck during restore and give error 53. This can happen when the home button is missing (replaced by a non-original) or damaged, or the interconnect cable is damaged, or the connector/circuit on the board. In your case, if you can't get hold of the original assembly to put back the original home button, you'll have to sell the phone for parts. Or get creative and lucky: find an affordable clean (legally and mechanically) board with a matching home button; or find a damaged phone still having its original screen assembly, and transfer that assembly to your phone then head to Apple and ask for a replacement screen. Do the math, to decide on the path. Whatever you choose, you'll be loosing a substantial amount of money on this deal :(

I kept the original home button and that is on the new phone. I was and am aware that the home button is repaired but never ever read that the cable needs to be a match or any other part of the front panel, otherwise I would have also kept those bits...

No I don't think the interconnect cable needs to be original, although I read it some places. If the home button is the original one and you're still getting that error, either they are right and you also should've kept that cable (beats me why, it seems to be a dumb cable) OR you damaged something in the process: home button, cable, or board connectors and around. Take them apart and look closely.

Happy you could go past error 53. That's the important part. If you're stuck with the screen you have, and if it's working despite those issues, you can keep it until it needs replacing again such as if you break it again or the screen detaches from the frame.

The screen is slightly coming away from the frame, what is a safe quick setting glue for this that won't damage the lcd screen...

I've used unibond in the past when I had a poor quality supplier for the 6 screens and unibond done extremely well. I don't have any issues like this anymore as I get original iPhone 6 screens.
