The plastic housing that holds the peg that the power cord plugs into is broken. Is there a way to replace it? There is a thick wire that comes out the back of the plastic and looks like it should insert into an opening on the board below it. This wire is also disconnected.

after reading you question several times i would have to say maybe. The best thing for this would be to have someone that know electronics look at to see what is going on.

Kate DeCleene, the jack itself is actually soldered onto the board. About the thick wire, it would help if you post a couple of images of the damage etc. with your question. That way we can see what you are referring to. Use this guide for that.
