Acting like a diva - won't power for long periods
Swapped the cable with working one, removed all USB attachments, done the reset, yet it only power up every blue moon. Any ideas?

What cable did you swap? What kind of reset? What operating system? How far does it get? Do you get a progress bar. You have come to a fine doctor and not told him any symptoms with the exception of "sick"'. Could be a simple virus or cancer, I have no idea from the little you have told me. Some Doc you are ;-)
