How can I test an iPhone 6 battery?

I'm a repair tech in need of an efficient way of testing an iPhone battery. There is no decent tester (with necessary connections) on the market that I can find and the connector looks too small to connect leads on a multimeter. How do you guys test to see if an iPhone battery is any good?

Thanks, but I'm looking for ways to test batteries outside of the iPhone. I need to know if a battery is good or not prior to installing. This is also beneficial when I have a device that won't power on - I need to know if the battery is good or if I have another problem to diagnose.

Ryan Alexander, not sure how often and how many batteries you need to check. Cadex has a c5100 battery analyzer that will definitely work for your batteries, but it costs a small fortune:-) The other way of doing things would be by obtaining the battery connectors and solder those to a prototype board, then connect the wiring to that board. You then attach either multimeter or any other test device to that.

I have a Cadex C5100. Have you used one of these devices, or did you just Google it? It has massive arms that bend down to touch contacts on things like alkalines and Galaxy batteries. These are not delicate or small enough to touch the fine contacts of an iPhone battery.

What are you talking about? I don't need to swap batteries and just get one to work for one phone. I need an effective way of testing the batteries OUTSIDE of the device before installing them. We're talking about high-volume battery testing, not swapping a single battery to get a device to turn on.

Unfortunately I don't think there is a way without getting a test iPhone to just shove the battery in and then check its info with ibackupbot, this gives the cycle count and other information on the battery etc.

But besides that, there isn't really a way to mass test batteries quickly.

I would highly recommend the Kaisi iPhone battery tester/activator. I use the K-9201 personally. It’s under $20 online. Not only is it designed specifically for iPhone batteries it will also work on iPads if you get that model Kaisi. The best part about it S that can also be used as an ammeter to test amp draw to determine if your charging port is pulling the proper amps to help diagnose Tristar chip failures.

Use a multimeter. Test the voltage in open circuit, and with a variable resistor . You'll immediately see the voltage drop I case the battery is bad. I'm sure you can find a device that can automate this for you if you have high volume.

get an old iPhone LOGIC board, desolder the batter connector and put some multimeter leads on the batter socket then you can plug in the boards and check them for the right voltage - go for gold and solder the socket onto a blank PCB board and permanently set it up to plug your meter leads in.
