The charging station is working and the device is able to turn on. The issue is that the remote is unusable unless its placed in its charging station for long periods of time.

If you are not completely sure it is the battery try reading through the troubleshooting page to narrow down the possibilities. If you are absolutely sure everything else works then a bad battery is probably the cause of the issue. Check whether your warranty is still valid because the battery might be covered by it. Although if the battery is not covered here you can find a relatively cheap replacement.
