My Macbook is showing a vertical orange line on screen. It's a constant line show up when the system starts (on the gray screen with apple logo) and continues till the system is turned off.

Honestly it sounds like you have a bad LCD Panel, there are some very thin ribbon cables that go around the outside edges of the panel, is it possible that the lid may have been stuck in a way to damage that cable?

amurtiger is correct you have a bad LCD, it has what is known as a TAB fault. You should be able to find an LCD on eBay. Here are the replacement procedures: MacBook Core 2 Duo LCD Panel Replacement
