Why is my iPhone still "searching" for service?

SOS. I have tried literally everything. I have tried updating the phone. That did not work. I have tried updating network settings/resetting network settings. That did not work. I have tried using a hard reset on the iPhone. That did not work. I have tried toggling airplane mode. That did not work. I have tried replacing the SIM card. That did not work. I have gone to AT&T and ensured that I am in good standing. I am. I have double checked that I am in a metropolitan area with coverage. I am. Yes, oddly enough, I have tried turinging it off and turning it back on. That did not work. There is also NO water damage to the iPhone. There are also no cracks in the screen. It is always protected by a Tech21 case. As it is, I rarely drop it. I tried backing it up then restoring it to factory settings. That REALLY didn't work as now I can not pass the activation screen due to my lack of service. The weird part is: the phone connects to wifi totally fine. It should be noted that this is affecting my ability to make phone calls or send/receive text messages. Please help. Please. PLEASE.

Well, I would try disconnecting then reconnecting the battery, then connecting to wifi. However if you haven't done this before, be careful. Especially with the home button flex cable. Very fragile

Will this help even though I've already restored it to factory settings?

It could. It's another way to reset your phone

I didn't get the chance to replace the battery but that was definitely the issue! I let the phone die and let it sit dead for about 24 hours and then charged it back and now it's working again!! :)

Shell Bell have you tried using a sim card that is from a working phone on the same service. What were the circumstances surrounding the phone when you last used it or is this a phone you have never used? Is this a new sim card to this phone or have you had the sim for a while have you tried the sim in another phone of similar service to see if it works.

Shell Bell. Try this in the exact order:

-check settings; make sure the time and date are set to automatically update

-restart phone and/or hard reset (home and power button, hold until restart.

-make sure phone connects to wifi

-check settings to make sure date has changed to current date and time

-if still searching, cycle airplane mode

-if still searching, connect to itunes via computer link and check time status

- if all this fails, disconnect and reconnect the battery (leave disconnected for 30 min to insure all power drains out) and start phone normally. Wifi should update the date and time and another hard reset may be needed

UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES should you restore the phone to factory settings while phone is "searching..."!! It could make your phone into a great paperweight.

Well i've already done of all those things and none of it worked. Also, I have already restored to factory settings as that is what AT&T told me to do and yeahh.....it's not letting me past "activating"

AT&T may have led you to bricking it. You should try to get them to fix it for you for free. It may be easier to replace. Can you connect w/ iTunes via a PC?

из

great news its working!!! i let the phone die and stay dead for 24 hours and now its working!!! its un-bricked

Great, that's awesome.

If you can't connect to a cellular network on your iPhone, make sure that cellular data is on in Settings > Cellular*. On your iPad, go to Settings > Cellular Data.

Reset your Network Settings. Tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.

Try updating your phone.

If still not working, it look like water damage.

Even you think there is no water damage, note that only small drop of rain water can enter in the device and make corosion.

But anyway, i would suggest to take a look to SIM tray as last.
