@desperate there are multiple reason for while your camera lens may be stuck. Could be a bad lens motor as well as a lens that is misaligned. Check on here for possible solutions. Sometimes using compressed air to clean the gap between the lens and the body may remove dirt and grime and free the lens. I previously used a shopvac to pull the lens out while turning the camera on. Ultimately it sounds like you may need a new lens.
