Burned out ethernet port

iMac 9-1 Early 2009 2.66 Ghz

Lightning ran in on my machine through the cable modem...am now using USB to ethernet adapter from Apple and all works well.....just wonder how much it would cost to get a new Logic Board for the ethernet if available?

I think I picked the right machine icon.

Here are the A1225 machines that the logic boards should work from:

You know the old adage "if it ain't broke, don't fix it,"

It's working, so I wouldn't risk a major overhaul just to gain one USB port. Machines hit by lightning can have component weakening. Personally I have a 2009 MacPro that was hit and I put PCI USB & PCI ethernet cards in it to get it running. It is still running.

I would have an external backup hard drive and keep Time Machine backups.

In this situation you have to replace Ethernet port.

Sadly, the Ethernet port is part of the logic board so it's not replaceable. But, one could use a USB Ethernet adapter if you can find one that is supported under OS-X which the OP did.

@danj - Dan, that's what he's using now.

@mayer - Yep! "Which the OP did"
