LCD Screen Ribbon Cables not Connecting to Logic Board

I am replacing the screen on an iPhone 5S. When I go to snap the ribbon cables into place, the longest one will not snap into place. I can feel it "teetering" on the spot that it is supposed to go in to, but it is not actually snapping into place. Any solutions?

EDIT: This is the cable that controls input from the digitizer

It is now kind of halfway clipping into place, but the digitizer is not working

Inspect both the flex connector and the board connector for dust, hair, etc with a magnifying glass. Also if it seems like it is popping off easily after you get it to go on, gently push the sides of the connectors to cause a tighter fit. I assume you know to unplug the battery before connecting the screen, and to put the long screws for the screen connector shield closest to the top of the phone, but just for anyone reading this who doesn't know, I mentioned it. That's what worked for me. Best of wishes.

if you have the old screen it would be worth putting both flexs side by side to make sure the new one is undamaged. dont put to much pressure when trying to make the new one fit. the connectors on the board can be easily damaged.

I have the same issue - the original factory (cracked screen) digitizer - clicks right in (easily) - but the replacement part does not seem to fit in the port. It must be off somewhere. The parts look very similar (the apple part being cleaner). There is no dust in the connector. I'm on my second replacement screen and I have the same issue with the second part. I was able to power up the screen - but the digitizer does not work.

Any hints or tips on getting this part to work would be appreciated.

I'm gonna guess it's where you're buying the parts from. Like eBay or Amazon. I would get a refund, and get parts from iFixit. If there's a problem. IFixit honors their warranty

C if you have access to a magnifying glass or loupe check the connector for bent pins count the pins to make sure you have the right connector . Is it the same as the original. I've had to play with the loop pins on some connectors to loose them up so they will connect. sometimes the loops are to close together then wont mesh . its just a mater of manipulating them to the point where everything will mesh . @theimedic right you can get cheap parts off ebay there not always the best but with some work they usually can be made to work

You're right @jimfixer you can sometimes get these super knockoff parts to work, and you're right, you're right it needs to be checked, however sometimes these parts aren't even made with the right connectors, and getting an exchange let alone your money back, are usually more difficult than should be possible, leaving the consumer with a part, that may never work. Hence my advice to try and get your money back, and purchase a quality part, that will work, or has a warranty to be taken care of

@theimedic If you have the part and it was an ebay or cheap purchase the odds of getting money back are slime and even if they will the shipping will kill any refund. This is why I would play around with the part to see if I couldnt make it work . But your right you need to check the pin count to see if its even made right

@jimfixer i guess we're both right. I would agree you're a little more right than me

Ok - I managed to get the second part to work. My final approach to the digitizer was to angle the connector in at the non-cable end - and get that end seated then rock it down toward the cable end of the connector. That worked. Phone is fully operational and working great.

Thanks,

C

Btw - 1st part was from Amazon and was $0 to return. That said I'm sure the ifixit parts are better ;)
