I was playing a game on my tablet and I noticed that it started getting pretty hot but I didn't think too much of it and then it just shut down without any warning. Did I break it?

The device has an actual running time of 8 hours. How long were you playing the game for?
Let the tablet cool down, charge it then see what happens, it is possible the device might need a new battery.
