I like this guide as it is crystal clear: MacBook Pro 15" Unibody Mid 2009 LCD Replacement
However, I have a question:
The model is A1286 Macbook pro 15".
The outer glass panel is broken while the inside LCD still works well.
Can I just lift(disassemble like the guide) the outer glass panel and replace with a new one?
Do I need to follow all the procedures? Thanks for your time.

well it took me 20 minuters to remove the panel and put on the new one.
Just use a knife to strip the panel off, nothing else.
