Do I really need a new logic board? (Water damage)
MacBook Pro 13" late 2014
Hi there,
Long story short- my MacBook Pro met with a pint of beer on the keyboard. Tried to dry it out, but the screen is now always black. It works fine when connected to an external screen, and all other components but the screen seem OK (keyboard, trackpad, backlight on keyboard, sound, webcam, etc). The screen also worked initially for a few seconds/minutes upon start up but not for the last few months.
I took it to a local repair shop to have a diagnostic done, and was quoted a LOT, saying the screen, keyboard, and logic board would need replacing. I just want to know if considering everything seems to be working apart from the display, if a logic board would really need replacing.
If yes then that's fine but I just want to make sure they've inspected it properly and aren't trying to hoodwink me as I clearly know nothing about computers!
Thanks very much,
M
