GPS chip Fix possible?

My Gps doesn't work at all. I've tried every possible software related fix including flashing a new stock firmware and Formatting. Could my antenna be damaged when I got it wet ?Anyways is there a way to just change the Gps chip or module ??? :(

Update (06/27/2016)

Well , this phone, as advertised is supposed to be water resistant for 30 minutes under water 1.5 meters. And in the commercials and showcases , they showcase the phone in a little pile of water. Anyways I wanted to give it a try for 2 minutes under 30 cm of water and took some shots inside a pool. Everything seemed ok till it got moisture and fog like little droplets inside the two camera lenses after about an hour. And after 3 hours camera stopped functioning at all . So much for water resistancy :( I used the rice drying method after 2 days and it helped for the main camera to clear out and work again but front cam was still foggy. after a week or so it got cleared by itself and everything seems working flawlessly apart from the GPS.

Update (06/27/2016)

I happened to try the Gps on a road with google maps and it didnt even got a signal. I used to app called GPS Test to see if it was a satellite fixing issue but I found out it looked like the GPS chip wasn't even turning on . It cannot find even one satellite on the radar screen. And funny thing is there are no error messages regarding GPS malfunction. Either my antenna got fried or the circuit got damaged I suppose :(

@urazyjazzy explain this "when I got it wet" a bit further

Did you ever resolve this? I had almost literally the same thing happen to my S7.

I have the exactly same issue as you, I did open up the phone and clean up everything, dry it... and gps still not working, and i went to Samsung center, the guy said need to change whole motherboard that cost almost half price of a new phone :(

@urazyjazzy okay so that sounds like you are having a water damaged phone. Number one rule is to skip the rice. It does not do anything. Zero. Zip.Zilch. Nada. All it does is waste valuable time.

I suggest you treat this just like any other water damaged phone. The very first thing you want to do is to not use it, charge it or sync it. Do not try to turn it on. Next step would be to clean it. For that you must disassemble your phone. It is to new of a phone to have guide ot but use [ this teardown to at least get into it. You must remove all EMI shields. If you do not remove those, you might as well not do anything. After you removed those, clean the whole board, connectors and all with +90% isopropyl alcohol. Just soaking it will not help. Follow this guide , and even so it was written for an iPhone, all the points are still pertinent to your phone. While you clean your board, check for any obvious damage, like burned or missing components etc. When it is properly cleaned, replace the battery. All these steps are to avoid delayed failure caused by corrosion. Best thing to do would be to clean it with an ultrasonic cleaner, but if you do not have access to one, this will at least help. Once all this is done, reassemble your phone, replace your batteryand reevaluate. Until it is cleaned, everything will only be a guess. Even with all this, water damage has only a small chance to be fully repaired.

Thank you very much for your answer but this seems like a default answer for a non water resistant damaged phone which does not work at all I suppose. My phone works perfectly as I have stated before, apart from the GPS feature.

из

@urazyjazzy you are right about the standard answer. Any phone that may have come in contact with water, like yours did, requires a proper cleaning before anything else can be evalauted. You will have to open it up and clean it. Only after that can you make proper determination of what may be wrong with it. There are plenty of components that are in charge of the GPS circuitry, from antennas to resistors, capacitors, coils and more up the the actual IC. Anyone of those could have failed based on the water damage.

из

thank you very much for your answer but why aren't you considering that this phone supposed to withstand 1.5 meters depth for half an hour and I took photos just 2 minutes in 30 cm depth in a pool. SO why do you think the internals should be exposed to water. It is not supposed to get damaged in 2 minutes. At least that's what water resistant means I guess ...Don't you have any trust for the Samsung brand ;) So you're saying that it cant be anything else but because of water...

из

@urazyjazzy I think Samsung builds phenomenal products. This is why I suggested what I did "till it got moisture and fog like little droplets inside the two camera lenses after about an hour. " I still think that you need to ensure that it is not the water damage

из

Yes this is exactly what I am asking because this fog issue apparently happens most of the people who takes photos underwater till s6 . And I haven't seen anybody mentioning about a gps issue after foggy lens time...if it's not caused by water what should I be replacing ? Or can I replace just the gps chip or do I have to replace the whole radio reciever module including Bluetooth and so on ...

Rice is for eating your phone may be working now but it will eventually corrode and die . in most cases the corrosion is what kills the phone and thats what @oldturkey03 is getting you to clean. The longer you put off the cleaning the less chance you have of a proper fix . For stubborn corroded spots use flux and a heat station if you have access to one.

Am I the only one who doesn't think this might not be just a getting wet issue. Because this phone is a sealed phone and water resistant for 15 times more (30mnts) and 3 times more depth(1.5 meters). It's been almost a month since this happened and as I stated the phone works fine apart from GPS...
