Unable to access Home Screen

When hitting the Home Screen icon, I get a pop up window that states "Launcher3 has stopped working." When I click on OK, the window constantly reappears, as if in a loop. The only way I can access my apps is to swipe down from the upper right corner of tablet screen which brings down several icons, including Settings. From there, I can access Apps, then launch whatever app I need to get into. I've power cycled the tablet several times, and did a Force Stop of the Launcher 3 app. Really don't want to do a factory reset if I can avoid it, but any and all suggestions would be appreciated.
