iPhone 6S partially unresponsive after D/C replacement

Hello all.

I'll try to be as precise as I can be with what happened and what are the current issues. For your information I work in a repair shop and both myself and my colleague who has plenty of experience are clueless as to what is going on.

The device came in initially for a D/C replacement as the customer had snapped off his headphone jack in the device. After doing a very careful replacement (using plastic tools where its necessary and using an anti static bracelet) , the device initially was stuck on a bootloop where it would turn on, show the apple logo , restart and continue in the same manner. Thinking it is a faulty part that is causing the issue we tried another 2 D/C's and same result. Disconnecting and reconnecting the battery did nothing to resolve the issue.

After some research on the internet we saw that it might be a software glitch and restoring the phone through itunes in DFU mode should solve the issue. The phone actually turned into the DFU mode but once plugged in to iTunes, the iTunes did not see the device.

Here's where the weird bit starts. We disconnected the phone and it was left plugged in for charge and while discussing what else we can try the phone just turned on and showed a 3% charge. After a few minutes it was 1% and the phone turned off. Indicated low battery and that the phone is charging. Turned on again and we switched it off manually and left it for charge over night.

Next day, the phone was on with 100% , but once disconnected from the charger it stays on roughly for about a minute, regardless of the battery level and switches off, only coming back to life once it's plugged into a charging lead.

Now at this point I am clueless as to what exactly is going on and what is causing the issue, Any comment would be much appreciated.

Have you tried another iPhone 6S battery? I'm quite a bit puzzled as well as dock connectors for me on iPhone 6 / 6s + (or non +) are fairly easy to replace once you get the hang of it.

Otherwise I think a small component may have chipped off near the battery connector for the battery gauge (well it is possible, but not sure if it's the same for iPhone 6S near the battery connector).

Tried it with a new iPhone 6S battery and it acts in the same way. Checked the logic board and don't see anything obvious chipped off but can't say for sure. At this moment I suspect that the new D/C has somehow affected the power IC chip and doesn't seem to know how to handle the battery life as well as incoming charge. That's the only thing that makes sense in my mind. But yeah still puzzled as to what happened.
