Screen won't work already replaced the LCD and front glass.

Good Day!

Long story short, loaned the phone out working, got it back the screen isn't displaying anything. iTunes finds in when it's plugged in to my PC, the vibrate works as proof of life. SO, I replaced the whole front panel glass, lcd + digitizer. Hoping that would do it.. Not that I'm a pro, but that didn't fix the problem.

Here's the QUESTION. What else would make the screen not work besides the parts I already replaced? Almost any sugestion would be helpful! Thanks in advance.

Regards,

52 y/o noob.

I think it is not the problem of LCD Touch screen,it is the problem of mainboard.Maybe you can go repair shop to test mainboard.

My cooperated friend told me about it,he is professional.

Hi, let's get this figured out. Do you have a microscope by chance to view the motherboard up close?

First...and this probably won't work to be honest but goal is to rule out everything, do a reboot on the phone. Hold home and power down at the same time for no less than 45 seconds.

Also if you have another screen to test that would rule out it being a faulty screen.

It could be your lcd connector has damage to it on the main board or an issue with backlight ic or backlight filter.

First I would strongly recommend test another screen and try the reboot. You could also try restoring if you're not worried about losing data on the device. If these three dont work it's a motherboard repair job.

Or hold the home button and power button at the same time for 15 seconds.

Just wanted to add that the whole phone does not need to be disassembled with the screen taken off when testing a new screen. Up to the part where you take the silver metal cover which covers the rear camera, volume, digitizer and LCD ribbon cables which is located at the top part of the phone you can plug the new screen through there (make sure the battery is unplugged before unplugging or re plugging in any ribbon cables of course).

I wanted to address "backlight ic or backlight filter" (no microscope) Stephen mentioned, isn't that part of the lcd + digitizer? Or is that part of the motherboard board? I had initially done the hard boot or reboot after charging for a while.. (and a few times since) My thought was the battery was just too dead, it wasn't holding a charge all that great when I loaned it out. As far as parts, I have the original 4S iphone and a brand new lcd + digitizer. And now have one for parts, but it went swimming in a pool, not sure what parts might have survived. So since I tried the new lcd + digitizer screen, it's not working, and the original so, there is no ruling out anything yet, via the method of trying a different screen. I tried a restore.. but I guess with touch and screen not working, it's pointless iTunes tells me the phone needs to respond..... Far as looking for damage.... not really going to happen, unless I find a nice person with a microscope! lol.. Thanks!

Backlight ic or backlight filter is a component on the logic board. And I recommend not doing a restore as what you are having now is a hardware issue and not a software issue.

Is the Backlight ic or backlight filter component replaceable/repairable without having to replace the whole thing? Sounds like that's beyond my abilities at any rate. Thanks.

Yes those components as well as lcd pcb connector are replaceable but as Ben mentioned I wouldn't attempt if you don't have any prior experience. If you're ever interested as well and would like to mail it I'm always more than happy to take a second look. We offer board repair in our store in WA.
