My MacBook Pro stopped working after flight

Hello everyone.

So. I put my MacBook in my bag when it was on sleep mood and I flew from Sweden to Greece ( 3 hours I guess). When I came to the hotel and opened my Mac, it won't start so I connected it to charge but the light on the MagSafe won't light up.

I tried the charger on another MacBook and it worked fine. When I came back home I tried to charged it again, and I could see the light is on but I can hardly see it because it was really faded.

Any tips?

If the MagSafe charger LED is faintly lit you may need the check the battery health as well as the charging & power logic on the main logic board.

The problem with sleep-mode is the system could still be processing something stopping it from going into sleep-mode. So what happens here is you put the system into its case the system heats up in the case unable to cool its self. So the system overheats as it tries to cool its self damaging the battery and in some cases the power logic.

Hello Dan.

Thank you for your replay. I ordered I battery and I will get it on Tuesday then i will see if it worked. I dont think that anything is overheated because my wife told me that she used it after we got to the hotel then she put it back. So it worked after we landed.

Did you mean "a battery"?

if it charged and worked with another charger, then your charger got damaged during packing. replace the charger.

Hello Roswell. Thank you for your replay but that it wasn't the charger problem. i mean i used the same charger on both macs but it didn't work with the one that have the problem.

check if your mac has any debris or dust in the port, or if the port is damaged or scratched in any way. if you could an image would help as well

Check the battery life and if its not good then buy a new battery. Oh, and next time dont run resource-intensive programs while in sleep mode because it could cause the battery to stop working again. Try getting a computer fan see if that works.

I didn't run anything when i used it before i put it in the bag. there is absolutely no life in the Macbook. no light what so ever. not even the button you use to check how much battery left ( the one in the left side ) anyway, I ordered a battery and i will get it on Wednesday then i will know what is the problem after that.

Then why did you put it on sleep instead of turning it off

I have got the same issue. I flew from the Usa to India and my Macbook is no longer working. I had turned it off and put it in my freight luggage as per new rules. When I plug the charge in there is no light. My laptop is dead, not a single button/power working. Would the motherboard gone?

Kevin did replacing the battery work for you?

I could not open my laptop for the whole month I was in India. A day after I got back to Australia, I decided to give it one last try and it opened up immediately. Who knows why….

This has happened to me, you need to unplug the battery and plug it back in (yes, open the case). It has something to do with the pressure changes that freaks out the battery depending on the temperature. It disables the battery until its reset by unplugging it. Mine was dead until I decided to try it out, and voila! It worked and didn’t have a problem until I flew again, repeated the fix and hasn’t happened since.

Technically you are not suppose to pack your laptop in your luggage. You are required to have it in the cabin. The reason is if the battery fails and ignites that would be very bad as no one would see it until it's too late.

Yes, pressure differences between the cabin and the luggage area can cause problems to your laptop.
